The Fabric

Manaspal is a striking blue and white fabric on a bright cotton background.

The embroidery uses some traditional paisley-style motifs with trailing vines and leaves. It is hand-embroidered using sumptuous petrol and slate blues, highlighted with a touch of spicy cinnamon thread. The bright background helps translate this traditional fabric to a contemporary setting.

Suitability

Blue and white fabrics are a classic starting point for a smart scheme, particularly suited to a dining room or hallway where you want to make an impact. The cinnamon spice highlight offers you options to play with in your corresponding soft furnishings, adding occasional chairs or cushions in a living room or snug. The striking colour palette is a great way to bring a touch of masculinity to a bedroom, whilst still enjoying the floral pattern. We have created a statement cushion using a blue fringe to add drama, visit the shop to check it out.

History

Our blue and white fabric is named after Manaspal Lake in Kashmir, ‘where the lotus blooms’; a small, peaceful environment which is edged in lotus flowers in the summer months. The paisley flower motif represents the tree of life, the seed palm and fertility. It is a traditional symbol, rich in history, which has been consistently updated over the years to great effect.
